Yesterday I made progress in my plans to eventually injure myself in ways more amusing than my mother (who has, in the past, broken her toe on a hoover and on another occasion by dropping a frozen chicken on it), although I will admit, I am as yet a grasshopper to her sparrow or what the ninja-ing ever.

I managed to run my foot over with the trolley I was pushing and in the process cut my toe.

Thank you Uriel for finally starting to shift my writer's block! Two whole weeks nearly without writing a damn thing, I was starting to get concerned.

*potters on with it*

Btw, Nyx already knows this, but I had to share the lulz; on Monday I was hobbling home from work on my crutch, and in a perfect display of the world's sense of humour, as I turned the corner onto my street, what song starts up on my mp3 player?

Ride of the Valkyries.

Sometimes you can't help but literally lol :).

Finished updating my Supernatural and Stargate: Atlantis recs lists, as well as putting them into pairing order, so I'm feeling accomplished and I have a legitimate reason to update.

In other news, I popped into the hospital and the rather yummy doctor agrees it's probably gout; and being gout, I'm stuck on anti-inflammatories for now and have to wait for the flare-up to die down before going in to get tested, gout being an awkward bugger that way! Bitches were going to be smacked, but I've had a good day despite the hiccups so I don't mind :).

Anyhow; let me just say, that was the nicest doctor's appointment I've ever had. I've never had a doctor seem so genuinely concerned for me - and admittedly, given the alternatives to gout largely consisted of deep vein thrombosis or heart/kidney problems, that's a bit understandable - and he was so, so delicate checking for any pain, it was just really, really sweet. It was like getting a foot rub from a hamster. Good news is that as usual my heart and blood are fine and both my legs, despite the foot swelling, are the same size, so it's not deep vein thrombosis. And it's definitely not a break.

So! Chances are, it's gout, and while we're waiting on results I think I'll have fun creating a new tag for this little adventure!

Oh man, I really wish I'd caught the name of the woman who was on the train with me this morning; I haven't come across someone so needlessly selfless in months. Seriously; she gave up her seat on the train for me, then when the train got cancelled, she offered me her arm to help me off the train, nattered away to me after clearing a path to the train station seats, then offered me her arm again to get back on the train! Admittedly, yes, I was using a crutch because my left foot is twice its usual size, but still!

There was no reason for her to be so nice; she was just needlessly awesome.

I hope karma pays her back for that :), she deserves it!

I swear, if the growing agony in my left foot turns out to be gout, bitches shall be smacked.
