OH MY SWEET JESUS
Feb. 4th, 2011 01:30 pmI've had a feeling for a while that I really want to ship Balthazar and Castiel hard, but I've never quite clicked onto why, and while having a natter over in ontd_spnparty I suddenly realised the reason.
Balthazar/Castiel is to Supernatural is as Vorador/Janos is to Legacy of Kain.
Balthazar: Gruff, decadent, I didn't like the character at all at first but he's starting to grow on me through no effort of his own, owns awesome weaponry, stays out of the limelight of battle as best as he can, chews out the protagonists for being rubbish every so often.
Castiel: Aeons-old learned creature who doesn't actually know as much about what's going on as he initially thought he did, my favourite character in the whole series, prioritises the survival of what he supports over his own life, guides and protects the Chosen One type protagonist.
They both die a lot.
They share a complex and muddled past.
IT'S NOT A PERFECT COMPARISON BY ANY MEANS BUT MY GOD MY SHIPPING INSTINCTS WERE RIGHT. I WANTED TO BE INTO THEM FOR A REASON. I THINK NOW I AM. A LOT.
