You know, there's only really one thing that ever comes to mind. There are plenty that are inspiring, plenty that explain my great love of people and imaginations and all that - but for the ones to live by, it's one of the only quotes from the bible I actually know pretty much word for word and the only one that really, really *means* something to me.
'Of all the commandments, which is the most important?'
'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." The second is this: "Love your neighbour as yourself." There is no commandment greater than these.'
And *that* is why I'm still a Christian despite the metric ton of crap done in his name. That? That's the reason I'm still in love with Jesus. The most important commandments of all, above not being able to eat seafood or wear clothes of more than one cloth or beating your neighbour's slave to death or all the retarded, retarded, manmade ungodly rules, are to *love*. Not to-love-unless, but to love, unconditionally and so hard it damn near hurts.
The most important thing in the entire world and universe above anything else is to love. And that's what I try to live by, even if I'm not always the best at it.
As to why I love people? I'll whip out xkcd for this one :).

That's why it's easier than you'd think if you work at it. It's still hard to love everyone, because some people make it tough on you to love them, but that's why I try and make the effort.
