Right, I just finally got around to doing one of those date-out-of-order master lists for fic instead of just having mine shoved in my LJ memories (speaking of which, I really, really ought to move my fics from my old fic LJ over here and out of order them too, because it's a bit messy having two LJs for one purpose especially if I never use one of them anymore), and I've been noseying around a few other people's master lists, and this lead me to pondering;

Having drabbles/ficlets/comment fic actually organised somewhere. I write a lot of this stuff though - I'm not one of these people who has about five to ten painfully exquisite little drabbles alongside their regular stuff so tacking them onto the main fic post would be a bit unmanageable - so I'm wondering, would keeping tabs on that be overly self-indulgent, or would it be worthwhile doing? I figure my flist are the guys and girls who actually read my LJ (and sometimes aforementioned drabbles/ficlets/comments), so I figure you're the best people to ask. Should I keep a masterlist for comment fic type stories as well, or would that be a bit lame and silly?

I personally like seeing a list of commentfic/shorts on an author's master list of fic as a reader. If you have a lot of them, you might move the list behind a lj cut so that they don't take up a huge amount of space on your main journal page, but readers can still access them if they want.

Duly noted :)! Methinks I'll go ahead with this plan. I've been vaguely intending to do it for YEARS but just kept putting it off.

Funny thing is though, about 99% of the list is going to be Supernatural commentfic ;), because for some reason it's the fandom I've wound up being absolutely addicted to writing commentfic for!

It seems like it would entail quite a bit of coding, but if you don't mind doing so then I vote yes!

I often miss out on fic posted in comments or kink-memes, so links to stories located outside your journal would be a very handy resource.

Duly noted! :), I do a lot of commentfic and kink meme entries so it'll be an interesting exercise!

What would possibly make them easier to organise would be having them as del.ici.ous bookmarks. That way, people can easily search for specific ones, and it doesn't depend on LJ memories.

If that's too much work though, then ignore me altogether :D

This is also true! Hmm... I might get a del.ici.ous account and then I can have that for short fics only, and put a link to that in the main master fic post. I'll have to have a fiddle about with del.ici.ous first though, see how it feels to use!

I've always liked master fic lists. I think you have the inclination to do all that coding then go for it :-)

Righto!

The main fic one's already done but as I write silly amounts of comment-fic etc, I'll probably just skip attempting to include summaries or similar and just arrange things by fandom then go

- Title [linked to the snippet] (pairing, rating)

And include a warning on that non-con snippet I did for ibroketuesday :). Because, y'know, surprise non-con isn't fun. Probably warning for dark fics as well. Next problem; FINDING all the comment fics, because I'm a bugger for not adding half of them to memories or bookmarks!

Do it! and do it now!

I'm trying ot go back five years with everything I've written, including challenges and little drabbles here and there...and teh 180 page pieces. I'm trying to get them all together in one journal and I'm telling you..its a bitch. I've lost stuff.

(grin) are you procrastinating again?

That said, put 'em all on your master list! they might be short, but they're still your works.
